How do I PlaceMe on Web?

Making a Place is quick and easy on the web. It only takes a few clicks and under 10 seconds to create a Place. There are two simple methods to follow.

Open GyPSii at www.gypsii.com. Look for the box "My Latest Places" after you have logged in. Under "Create Place" type a description and add a picture, video or sound file. Click Create Place. Click the place after it has been made, select "Edit this Place" and add details. Click Save Settings to save your changes.

Alternatively, click PlaceMe (Add Place) under the Places link on the left navigation. This opens the full Place panel for you. Enter the place's address in the Map Me box, click Find to set the location. Add details and media and hit the Create Place button.

How do I help friends sign up?

The more of your friends using the GyPSii mobile social network, the more fun it is. Along with the Send Invites function, sharing links to interesting Places is often a good introduction to GyPSii. On the web you can invite in bulk using many common email services, social network friends or address books.

There are four ways to invite friends: individual email address, webmail address book, email address book and social network.

To invite one friend by email, simply type their email address into the form. Press Select Addresses to continue.

For webmail, select Import Webmail Address Book, then your username and password for that service, GyPSii will retrieve your list of addresses automatically and let you pick who to invite from the list. Press Select Addresses to continue.

For local email clients such Thunderbird, Evolution or Outlook, open the application and select the Export Address Book option, which varies depending on email client.  In Outlook it is under File/Import&Export, then follow the wizard. In Thunderbird it is under Window/Address Book then choose Export under Tools. Save your list as a CSV (Comma separated) file, then enter GyPSii and select Import Local Address Book under Send Invites . Pick the correct format for the file, choose the file and hit Import. Press Select Addresses to continue.

For social network import choose Import Social Network Contacts under Send Invites. Select the correct social network, enter your username and password then click Import. Press Select Addresses to continue.

All the invite options share a similar interface after pressing Select Addresses. A list of your friends will appear. You can then deselect any you do not want to invite. Add a personal note then click Send Invite.

How do I turn off the image pop-up when entering a Place?

You can turn the Lightbox image pop-up feature off or on. Simply click the Me link on the left navigation, then select General Information. In the Preferences box there is a check box labelled "Always pop up image when viewing a place." Uncheck this box to not have images pop up automatically when loading a Place. Click Save Settings and enjoy a smoother GyPSii experience.

You can still view a Place's images with the Lightbox by clicking on the icon next to a Place name. 

How can I change my location?

Your location can be manually set on the web.

How do I send Places to my friends from the web?

Places can be sent to friends through email or GyPSii messaging inside GyPSii. When viewing a Place you can click on "Share with a Friend" to share with other GyPSii members or "Send via Email" to send to any email address.

How do I find out where my friends are?

You can see a list of your friends using My Friends . You can see how far they are from you then view a map to see their most recent location.

What other information can I get about my friends?

The information you can get will depend on what they entered in their profile. You will see information including their latest Place, phone number, email address and IM screenname.

How do I find interesting Places?

When you look for Places under Places/Explore, you can choose from several categories (Eating, Arts, etc) and scope (All, Friends, Mine). Next add keywords to narrow the results to find exactly what you are looking for. You can always see the most recent places by click Places in the top menu.

What kind of information can GyPSii show in ExploreMe results?

This depends on what kind of information the creator has added to a Place. You will be able to view media such as photos and videos of the Place, when it was created, how far it is from your current location, a description, tags, who created it and a map of the Place.

Who has created the Places I can search for?

The Places on GyPSii have been created by other GyPSii members. When you search for a Place you can choose to search for all Places or only the ones created by your friends or yourself. In addition you can see Points of Interest (POIs) such as restaurants, ATMs and shops.
